What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a normal link with a tracking identifier attached. That identifier tells the merchant which publisher sent the visitor. If a purchase follows within the merchant's attribution window, the publisher is credited a commission on that order. The price you pay is set by the merchant and is identical whether you arrive through our link, through a search result, or by typing the address directly.

Outbound commercial links on this site carry rel="nofollow sponsored" so that search engines can identify them as paid placements.

Who pays us

We participate in affiliate programs operated by merchants and by affiliate networks acting on their behalf. On this site, the relevant relationships are:

• SmartAdv, an affiliate network, which manages our relationship with the merchant whose product is reviewed on this site and pays us a commission on qualifying orders.

We are not employed by, owned by, or operated by any manufacturer whose products appear on this site. We do not receive editorial direction, review copy approval, or payment for specific conclusions from any brand.

How this affects our content

It affects which products we cover, and it does not affect what we say about them. Being commercially viable means we write about products that have an affiliate program, which is a real bias worth stating plainly: a product with no program is less likely to get a page here, however good it is.

What we do not do: publish figures we have not verified against the maker's own published material, invent test results, quote reviewers who do not exist, or omit a drawback because it might cost a sale. Where a specification could not be confirmed, we say so rather than estimate.

Independence and accuracy

Prices, subscription terms, warranty length, and return windows change frequently and vary by region and promotion. Figures on this site reflect what was published at the time we checked and can go out of date. Always confirm the current terms on the merchant's own site before you order. If you find something on this site that is wrong or stale, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

Not health advice

The devices we cover record and report measurements. They are consumer wellness products, not medical devices, and nothing on this site is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a substitute for professional care. Consult a qualified clinician about health decisions.

Regulatory basis

This disclosure is provided in line with the US Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), which require material connections between a publisher and a seller to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. That is why the notice appears at the top of every page, before the content, rather than buried in the footer.
